Conclusions
Geriatric Care Management is one type of case management for the elderly
that has begun to take root in the United States. Although it is originally designed for long term care management, more recent reviews of such management
have shown that it is growing into more and more areas of service for the older adult.
There are still many unmet needs associated with both Geriatric Care Management
and government programs for the elderly as government funding is being cut. A private case management system may grow into
the vacuum which, if done correctly, would add the important dimension of empowerment for the client/patient.

The
importance of this paper is to help us recognize the need and promise of a solid Older Adult Case Management course in helping
to prepare students for their employable future. Education, formal and informal, should be directed toward students who will
then be more able to deal professionally with older adults in this growing field.
